How to Photograph your Glass pieces

What You will Need:
Digital Camera
(2) 24" Sq. Opalescent Sheet Glass or smaller depending on the size of your piece
(2-6) Clamp Lamps with 100w Daylight Bulbs

Place sheet glass perpendicular to one another, leaning the upright sheet against a wall. You will get a beautiful reflection in your photo by placing your fused piece on top of the white opalescent sheet glass instead of white paper or a white sheet. Set your lights up around the sheet glass. Depending on the look you want you may require more light. The more light the brighter your photos will be. Dim the overhead lights and shoot away!

Once you have taken a few photos and made adjustments, upload photos to your favorite photo editing software. Here you can adjust the brightness and colors to really help your pieces pop!

Important tip: Do not use the flash on your camera as it will wash your photos out and create an unattractive glare on your fused piece.

If you have any technical questions, please email us at slumpyartist@gmail.com.

Everything Morton!

Another awesome thing that Slumpfest-ers 2013 learned...How to use all the amazing tools that Morton Glass produces!

Morton also has great online tutorials and instructions for all their products! Slumpy's has all the tools on display in our NEW Store!

favorite simple tool made by Morton Glass is the Safety Break... this small tool can break glass anywhere on your score line which makes a glass artist's life a lot easier when cutting rounded edges! Morton says it best, "Saving tips and preventing flares is the best reason to use the Safety Break System." Simply hold the tool horizontal over the score line and press up with your finger; to break more than one score at a time, just use both hands and push up with your fingers. Or use bottom edge over the red button to remove a narrow strip from the glass edge.  More detailed instructions here... with easy-to-understand pictures!

A MUST-HAVE tool in your glass studio is the Morton Glass Portable Glass Shop. This glass shop comes with all the tools to get you started cutting strips, bits, triangles and more in any size! Match with Morton Surfaces to create the perfect cutting system!

Morton Glass has complete instructions on assembly and use of the Portable Glass Shop. See instructions here

Slumpy's carries all Morton accessories for the Portable Glass Shop including Fence extensions, Glass stops, Glass Caddy system, Cutter Caddy, XL Cutting Bar and more. See all products here

We also have Waffle grids in 2-pack, 4-pack and 6-pack to fit your space! A great little accessory that we use with the Waffle Grids in the Slumpy's warehouse is our Speed Balls. Just place the speed balls in line with your score for easier sliding of glass.

Morton Glass products are a MUST for the glass enthusiast!

Slumpy's Store will be OPEN Saturday, November 30, after Thanksgiving 10am- 4pm!
All in-store orders this day will receive 20% off! *Cannot combine with other offers.

Slumpy's Mold Spotlight

Holy Moly! Our 'What's New' section on Slumpy's website is OVERFLOWING

For starters, have you noticed we have been designing molds in smaller sizes? We had a great idea of taking our most popular molds and making smaller versions! Take a look at these two molds! They are actually small versions of an 11" and 13" mold.

The SM-9049-M, Jordan- Small measures 6" square and 1.5" high. This mold is great for those of you who can't necessarily accomodate an 11" mold but love the shape of our original Jordan mold. This also gives a great opportunity to those who have larger kilns and want a Jordan mold set!

The SM-9275-S, 3 Section Jumper- Small was also designed off a Slumpy's original and popular mold. This mold measures 9" L x 3" W x 1" H and makes the perfect 3 section decorative votive holder.

The next two molds that Slumpy's just released are molds that have family members following closely behind! These molds are simply elegant!

Slumpy's SM-9464, Ruffle Flower plate measures 12.5" in diameter and 3.5" in height. Simply place a 12" fused circle on this mold and slump! No need to use nippers to exact the shape to your glass... the mold has an organic design and we can all benefit from that!

I think I saved the best for last... the SM-9802, Circle Square Mold is one of my favorites! I'm almost positive you'll agree too! I also adore the 1GBS-I-136 Dark Blue Iridescent sheet glass used on the final piece.

October News!

This past weekend was SlumpFest 2013 and we had a wonderful time with everyone! A big thank you to everyone who came to Belmont, NC! We hope that each and every one of you walked away with new techniques and new friends. I personally loved talking with everyone and meeting new folks from "our" world. We had a good bunch of folks this year-- 52 people! Double from last year!

For those of you who couldn't make this year, we had Luke Krenzin and Erica Biery as instructors. Both were wonderful and have so many great ideas and techniques! Erica taught the stamping technique and students made a 12" stamped salad bowl. Erica is such a great teacher and a magician on the Morton Glass Cutting system! Her assistant, Jennifer, was so full of life and helpful. I can't wait to visit with these two again!

Luke taught the crackle technique this weekend and everybody's glass pieces look amazing! Of course, we are still firing glass and will be all week! Luke is such a great person and super friendly! I loved watching him interact with all the students. I can't wait to try the crackle technique in the Slumpy's studio!

Our Grand Opening for the Slumpy's showroom was this weekend too! All our SlumpFest 2013 attendees had first look at our new storefront! On Saturday morning, we had a ribbon cutting ceremony with owners, DJ and Scott Toal. We are open and ready to see you-- stop by and visit Slumpy's!

For more awesome pictures of SlumpFest 2013 and our NEW storefront, visit us on Facebook!

Again, a BIG thank you to everyone who attended, instructed and helped at SlumpFest 2013! We are so very grateful for you all!
